Holliewould loves…

Hello! I have been busy with lots of family stuff going on at the moment and with it being the summer holidays, days are just flying by! I’ve been thinking about blogging more and more and just haven’t made time for it!

I’ve downloaded the WordPress app so it will hopefully make doing regular posts a little easier!

Here are my favourite things I’ve either bought or got my eye on in the past few weeks…

Picked these up from Aldi for £3.89 for finn, he loves camping and has an outdoors themed bedroom – when we had the idea a couple of years ago there always no accessories available in the UK but the trend seems to have caught on and there are some great pieces to pick up now quite cheaply! These are sold out online but some left in stores, dinosaur, llama and unicorn pjs are also available in the range.

Also on another trip to Aldi, I picked up this cute t shirt to use as a pj top but finn has taken a liking to it since my husband got a papa bear t shirt for Father’s Day so he’s been rocking it out at the park – what a bargain for £2.99. Also comes in pink!

Another bargain I always pick up is Poundland’s eyebrow pencil, it is only a £1 of course and it the perfect colour match for me.. this week while we were browsing Poundland’s wares I spied this…and I absolutely love it, it comes in 4 colours and it’s really moisturising, the pigment is good and I have kept it in the car for on the go moments! I love my designer products as much as my bargains and this lip butter is a good addition to any make up bag!

On a completely different note I went over to my friends for dinner this week and she always makes amazing food but I enjoyed the meal so much i have replicated it twice again this week already! Rick steins recipe for Greek frittata is so easy to make and full of goodness – loads of greens. We served it with a tomato and onion salad and it was a hit with finn too! Recipe herehttps://thehappyfoodie.co.uk/recipes/baked-greek-omelette-with-wild-greens-herbs-leeks-and-feta-corfu from the happy foodie! If you eat low carb or follow slimming world then this is great!!

Until next time….

Holliewould loves…. Aldi & Lidl

It’s been forever since I have written a blog post, I could bore you with all the reasons why but it’s mainly that I haven’t made time for it with working and being a mum and buying a house…blah blah blah!

I thought I would do a quick holliewould ‘loves’ post and over the next few weeks I am going to work out how to do my blog under different headings holliewould – eat, holliewould – make, holliewould – bake etc you get the idea!! So watch this space if there is anyone watching at all after all this time!?!

So things I’ve spotted at Aldi and Lidl!

Firstly I bought this amazing bedset for my 7 year old – he loves a llama – who doesn’t!! Bargain for £6.99

There are a few in the range including mermaid/unicorn/flamingo available in double for £8.99 and king for £11.99 – I have seen that a cactus print and a rainforest and tropical print has also been added in all sizes. Some are in store only but Aldi are pretty good at holding an item if you go in the same day…

World Book Day!!!

We love books in our house, we have read to our boy from weeks old and he loves sitting with us and listening to classics (the railway children at the moment) as well as reading his own favourites. His school were kind enough to give us fair notice this year for world book day dressing up. Now, with all good intentions to be prepared I have been known to be scouring charity shops and dragging my sewing machine out the night before whatever dress up day it is! I spotted these this week in Aldi and they won’t be round for long that’s for sure!! I Spied 5 options… a dragon, little red riding hood, a knight, a pirate, and a mermaid. All priced at £4.99 and sized 3-5 and 6-8 years. They also had corresponding books to match outfits for £1.99 so if you want to have an easy run this book day get to Aldi quick!!

A couple are available to buy Online Here

Totally unrelated but new in store none the less is truffle salami!! Our Valentine’s Day evening usually consists of nice food and wine and my husband loves continental meats so I picked this up for £1.49

I am a little bit obsessed with the idea of finding a truffle! When we’ve been on wet woodland walks I have taken to hunting round the bases of trees with a stick in hand, my husband informs me that we probably need to borrow our friends beagle if we had any slim chance of being successful but I still look! Anyway if you do enjoy the earthy taste of truffles these thin slices make an ideal addition to a deli board or even pizza… mmm I hadn’t thought of that! Or a sandwich with a hefty handful or rocket… I think I had better pop and buy some more! There was some new Parma ham and chorizo also in the range for the same price. You can thank me later.

I am usually an avid Aldi shopper, mainly because we have one on our doorstep and I really love all the ranges they have especially the meats and wines. But on the way back from a day out last week we popped into a Lidl to get a few essentials. I spotted these plants and succulents whilst at the till and with it being my sisters birthday I thought this would make a good addition to her ‘goody bag’ obviously I had to get one for myself also, be rude not to at £3.99!!

Others in the range here!

Keep your eyes peeled for more holliewould loves in the next few weeks!

♥ ♥ Valentines Day ♥ ♥

My Valentines blog features Valentines day 2 Years ago! Plenty of lovely things available to order from NOTHS if you think you have left it too late!!

Hollie Would?

I know some people hate it….and some people love it. Me and my husband usually celebrate Valentines day by doing something nice (usually involving food and alcohol) and getting each other a nice card. We aren’t into it in a major way and a really nice dinner or selection of our favourite deli food and a bottle of wine is what normally occurs. It is nice to turn the TV and iPad off, dig out some of our old music and have some time together.

Here are a few of my favourite valentines themed ideas….

Love this card from Liverpudlian Illustrator Becka Griffin for £3.25 from NOTHSoriginal_cheesy-valentine-s-card

Also from NOTHS…how cute are these?! The Perfect Match……

Summer is coming….this fat free dessert is easy and refreshing!

Hollie Would?

If you were expecting a scientific study that claims a huge mr whippy with a flake in is now fat-free, then sorry i have led you here under false pretense.
I was on pinterest the other day and came across a pin for fat-free banana soft whip ice cream! It looked gorgeous so i gave it a go! For some reason i had loads of bananas left in the fruit bowl so they came in handy here (i used to make banana cake with them! oops!) So if you are eating healthy, doing a clean eating diet, vegan or just fancy a healthy sweet dessert then give it a try!
For this recipe you will need…. as many bananas as you like, a freezer, and a blender. Thats it.
Chop all your bananas into chunks, put into a Tupperware tub or ziplock bag and stick them in the freezer. Overnight…

NOTW – Nails of the week!

I am so sorry that Holliewould has been neglected recently! I have recently moved house and with gaining 2 jobs, a new nursery for my 3-year-old and all new surroundings i have struggled to find the time to blog! I have been exploring my beautiful home town of Norwich all over again, it just gets better and better!
I thought i would start with NOTW again as the range i am using is brilliant, without the use of gel i think most of us find it hard to find a long-lasting polish, but this has good staying power and comes in great shades! sally hansen
This is from the Sally Hansen complete salon manicure range and with 65 colours to choose from, the BOGOHP deal at boots at the moment gets you 2 bottles from just over £10!
This is called Scarlet Fever and is a perfect autumnal colour as is lovely and glossy. It is a deep pinky red and this has literally grown off my nails, i have had the odd tiny chip repair but i am doing housework all the time and have found a tiny touch up and its been perfect again! (I am also fussy!)
This has a base coat, a strengthener, a growth treatment and top coat combined in with the colour! I love it!

Fat Free Ice Cream!!

If you were expecting a scientific study that claims a huge mr whippy with a flake in is now fat-free, then sorry i have led you here under false pretense.

Chop all your bananas into chunks, put into a Tupperware tub or ziplock bag and stick them in the freezer. Overnight is probably best. frozen banana
One frozen, take out however much you want to use, i did about 1 1/2 bananas and blend for about 45 – 60 seconds. Dont over blend it but make sure it is at soft serve ice cream consistency.
blend This is about right.
So, i kept mine plain and me and my little boy shared it but i have seen other people add cocoa, peanut butter and other mix in’s after the blending stage but i wanted to keep mine fat-free!
You can also refreeze this to scoop out later but we liked it just as it was!

I love the fringing on this kimono from George @ Asda, A bargain for £14 and definitely festival worthy!
LACE2

I spied this net crochet style bolero on pinterest and i love it, it only comes in one size and takes 2-3 weeks to ship but it really is a great buy for the price of £13 plus £4 delivery from sheinside on amazon.
LACE3

This plus size lace blazer from inspire at New Look is a chic addition to a summer wardrobe for £30

NOTW – Nails of the week!

On a Sunday, i like to get my nails and toes ready for the week ahead if i have time! Sometimes it just a pale colour or sometimes just buffed but more than often its a bright glossy for summer and a moody shiny red in winter. This is my pick of the week… Avon’s Gel Finish in Shade – Fabulous (P809)
This bold orangey red polish has a build in base and top coat so you get fantastic shine and protection but without a UV lamp or the price tag! These are half price at £3.50 at the moment! So grab a bargain while you can! xx

My Little Bargains of the week

I was lucky enough to venture into Liverpool on my own this week. Yes, toddler free shopping!!! I know it sounds mean and i love my little boy but he is a wanderer, a runner, he will find the tiniest corner of a shop and hide there until I, flustered and slightly panicked, find him giggling and wrestle him out. So….the propect of going alone is always appealing!
After getting some new shoes and a couple of essentials i wandered into primark (i always try and go as early as possible, as people get a bit loopy after 10am) I found this lovely jam jar glass for £1.50 (wish i had bought 4 now!)
Glass Its cute and everywhere seems to be serving cocktails in these recently as a bit of a modern spit and sawdust twist on a cosmopolitan. I am not sure what im using it for yet, maybe fresh flowers, maybe cutlery at a BBQ, maybe i will just have a big ole cocktail to myself!! (Sounds the more likely option!)
I also bought a couple of lightshades, The pure white paper dome ones with broderie anglaise style holes in. They are so pretty. I am also not sure where or when i will use them but there were too lovely to leave for £2 each! The trouble is, i shop for the house im going to have, not my current one, which means when my future house arrives, all my beautiful wares and purchases will come out of the cupboard and be on show! Does anyone else do this or is it just me?!

I also wandered into Cath Kidston for a peek, I like the style of lots of things in the shop but i like to find my own little treasures and bits from different places. The shop is lovely, really well laid out and you will always find something for someone in there! This trip, i found these for Finn….
finnplate
Finn is train mad at the moment, he LOVES them. So i got him these as i loved the retro feel and they are lightweight and easy for a picnic. £3 each! He loves them! They are available from the website
